Company fines after exposing workers to asbestos [UK]

A company has been fined £60,000 and ordered to pay £17,094 in prosecution costs after pleading guilty to breaching the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 and two breaches of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. The company was prosecuted by the HSE after it was found that around 50 workers had been potentially exposed to asbestos…Following an investigation by the HSE it was found that the company had failed to carry out a suitable survey before the work commenced to establish whether asbestos containing materials were present.
