Danish Institute of Human Rights launches two projects focused on taking a gender-sensitive approach to business & human rights

[I]n 2018 the Danish Instiute for Human Rights will be working on two projects focusing on taking a gender-sensitive approach to business and human rights, in particular with the view to increasing attention to the rights of women and girls.

The two projects are the following:

1: Women in business and human rights: A mapping of topics for state attention in United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) implementation processes

This mapping paper will seek to provide an overview of key topic areas for attention for states in strengthening their gender focus in UNGPs implementation processes, including national action plans (NAPs) on business and human rights...

2: Briefing Note: Strengthening engagement with women in extractive industries projects

...This short briefing note will provide practical suggestions for addressing some of the key challenges faced by extractive industries projects in taking a gender-sensitive approach to their engagement. For each of the topics addressed, the briefing will provide a short overview of key gender issues, good practice examples for how these can be addressed and engagement with women strengthened, and further resources for extractive industries project staff.

[Note: DIHK welcomes feedback on both projects. Please contact Nora Götzmann or Elin Wrzoncki regarding the mapping paper and Nora Götzmann regarding the briefing note.]
