Diversity Slow to Come [USA]

[Law firms] say diversity is a priority, but the economic slump looms over recruiting... [Washington] D.C.’s largest firms..., according to the Legal Times 150 survey...[did not increase their] percentage of minority and female attorneys and partners...over last year, the first time Legal Times reported diversity data... [M]inorities, especially, still make up only a small fraction of D.C.’s legal ranks. Only 6.1 percent of law firm partners are minorities, the survey shows, and 12.8 percent of total lawyers... “Most responsible, thoughtful firms are working very hard towards diversity goals, but virtually none are achieving enough—and that’s true for all of us,” says Eric Bernthal...of Latham & Watkins.
