[DOC] Summary of NomoGaia’s “A Human Rights Impact Assessment Toolkit”

This Toolkit sets forth for practitioners interested in conducting corporate Human Rights Impact assessments (HRIA) a four-phase process of HRIA in a step-by-step manner. The Toolkit also presents a practical format for completing an HRIA that is based on over five years of testing using sample case studies from around the world. The HRIA process set forth in the Toolkit uses a methodology that is distinct from that used for an environmental or social impact assessment. This HRIA methodology builds upon, and explicit references, internationally recognized human rights and thus enables a company to see a project—and its impacts—through a human rights lens.
