Fashion Models Join with Bangladeshi Labor Rights Leader Calling on Nautica to Sign Fire & Building Safety Accord [Bangladesh]

Nautica was called upon today by a coalition of fashion models, U.S. labor rights organizations, and a leading Bangladeshi labor rights advocate, to join a binding agreement on fire and building safety in Bangladesh that its parent company, VF, has refused to sign in the wake of a series of fatal apparel factory fires and a building collapse in Bangladesh…The coalition issued its call at a demonstration in front of the Nautica show at New York Fashion Week…Garment workers in my country are suffering from poverty wages, repression of the right to organize, and unsafe workplaces,” said Kalpona Akter, executive director of the Bangladesh Center for Worker Solidarity.
