India: Villagers protest against NHPC for allegedly deceiving to acquire land on promises of employment, NHPC responds

Hundreds of people from various  villages in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district Saturday staged protest against the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation(NHPC). Protesting villagers especially affected farmers were demanding employment in the corporation...Alleging NHPC of hoodwinking the people...The locals, mostly those whose land has been acquired for the construction of  330 Megawatt Power Project, alleged that NHPC earlier promised affected villagers of providing the employment but after passing 10 years nobody has been appointed in  the corporation,besides they (NHPC) is appointing outside residents while ignoring the local youth. Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited NHPC to respond to the concerns raised, NHPC responded saying, "everything is resolved. Work resumed".
