Center for Health, Environment & Justice

Details:

  • Location: Falls Church, Virginia
  • Rolling application

Our robust and active intership program gives participants hands-on, real-world experience in environmental justice and community organizing. Over the years, more than 200 CHEJ interns have gained insight into the complexities of environmental issues, an appreciation of science for the public interest, the importance of data in advocacy and a respect for the power of informed citizens.

CHEJ alum rise to the top of their field! Jose Aguayo was a science fellow with CHEJ; today he is a database analyst with the Environmental Working Group. Amber Myers is a fundraising consultant in New York City who raised $150,000 for environmental justice at one gala. Kyungmin Lee, who helped design our former website, is now a graphic designer at Capital Community News.

Internships are available for the summer and fall in Research in Science and Policy, Toxicology, Journalism, Writing, Membership Recruitment, Social Media, Data Entry, Development and Communications, and Grassroots Organizing. Assistance in finding housing and a travel stipend is available.

To apply for a CHEJ internship, send your resume and a cover letter that explains the type of internship in which you’re interested, what you hope to gain from the experience, and the time frame you are available.
