Jordanian Minister of Labour to striking fertiliser workers: Demands for payment of wages and occupational safety are rights-based demands

Summary: For over two weeks, employees of the Jordan Abyad Fertilizers and Chemicals Company P.S.C (JAFCCO) have been protesting delayed payment of wages, non-payment of overtime and bonuses and lack of occupational health and safety standards. Speaking to the striking employees, Jordanian Labour Minister characterized their grievances as “blatant rights, rather than labour disputes”. JAFCCO had earlier dismissed 18 of the striking workers.
