Kenya: Private school teacher charged for allegedly sexually assaulting 9 year-old pupil

"Nairobi teacher denies sexually assaulting 9 year-old pupil at school"

A teacher was on Monday charged with sexually assaulting a minor at a school in Nairobi's Utawala area. George Otieno 32, allegedly grabbed the 9 year-old girl and inserted his fingers into her private parts in a classroom.

The prosecution said that the teacher committed the act on March 16, 2016 at PCEA St Paul educational centre in Githunguri. Otieno faces an alternative charge of indecently touching the minor without her consent on the same date. The suspect, a maths teacher at the school, reportedly asked the girl to bring him food to class before he sexually assaulted her. "The suspect asked the student to taste the food before he lured her into another room in the pretext of going to show her some books," the prosecution team said in court.
