Kraft Foods was previously a subsidiary of Altria.  Altria sold part of Kraft in a public offering in 2001 and spun out the rest of the company to Altria's shareholders in March 2007.  Kraft separated into two companies in 2012; one continues to be named Kraft Foods, the other is Mondelēz International.

On 2 July 2015, Kraft completed its merger with Heinz, to become Kraft Heinz.
