On 16 April 2023, 50 protesters from the movement Rising Tide were arrested following a protest action against new fossil fuel projects where they climbed aboard a train bound for the Port of Newcastle, Australia and began shoveling coal out of its wagons. 47 of the activists were issued with court attendance notices and three were charged, two for alleged malicious damage and one for allegedly assaulting a security guard.
