On 8 August 2019, Alexander Pomazuyev, an attorney of Alexey Navalny’s Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) was forcibly taken in for interrogation in a criminal money laundering case against FBK. His house was searched and bank accounts were frozen. He was injured during the search of his house when law enforcement officers slammed his face into the floor. The Anti-Corruption Foundation is the only Russia-based NGO that investigates, exposes and fights corruption among high-ranking Russian government officials, including embezzlement of budget funds. The office of FBK was also searched. Computers and other office equipment were seized. The foundation’s accounts have been frozen.
