Amérique du Nord : Des ONG appellent 3 banques à ne plus financer des projets de pipeline pour manque de consentement des communautés concernées

...[Des] organisations de la société civile lancent un appel aux banques Crédit Agricole, JP Morgan Chase et Wells Fargo à mettre fin à leurs financements à Enbridge et TransCanada, entreprises canadiennes derrière les projets de pipelines de sables bitumineux Line 3 et Keystone XL en Amérique du Nord.

Comme le Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) — projet hautement controversé construit en l’absence du consentement libre, informé et préalable (CLIP) de la tribu des Sioux de Standing Rock —, les oléoducs Line 3 et Keystone XL constituent une grave menace pour les droits autochtones. Ni Enbridge ni TransCanada n’ont obtenu l’aval de toutes les communautés amérindiennes vivant sur le tracé de leurs projets. Les populations Mille Lacs, White Earth et Red Lake du Minnesota, dont les terres seraient traversées par le Line 3, se battent contre le projet devant les tribunaux...
