Azerbaijan: Oil workers’ rights abuses include non-payment of wages, discrimination, lack of union rights, health & safety violations, says NGO report; includes firms comments

Report on the evaluation of the implementation of legislation on labor, economic and social rights of Azerbaijan’s oil sector prepared by Oil-Workers’ Rights Protection Organization (OWRPO) highlighted various abuses, among which non-payment of wages, discrimination, lack of union rights, health & safety violations.

Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited the companies mentioned in the report to respond. Asco, Swift Worldwide Resources, Maersk, Intertek, Equinor responded. SOCAR, Enermech Limited, Global Energy Azerbaijan Group, Elite Marine PTE, Stork, BOS Shelf LLC, Baghlan Group didn't respond.

OWRPO issued a rejoinder to which companies provided responses too.
