Company Response

Bazan nonresponse to fuel supply for violent conflict following ICJ ruling

According to a report from SOMO, as one of Israel’s largest energy companies, Bazan processes up to 9.8 million tons of crude oil per year. In 2023 alone, the refinery produced 723,000 tons of jet fuel. In a December 2023 marketing video, Bazan emphasized its “continuous supply of energy to the Israeli military,” with the declaration, “Together we shall win”. Despite growing international pressure and scrutiny over military aid to Israel, the continued supply of oil by Bazan Limited, highlights the company’s purported complicity in supporting military actions that contribute to severe human rights abuses.

We requested Bazan to respond to the above as well as the following questions:

  1. Can you confirm if your company supplies oil to Israel?
  2. How does your company reconcile its supply of oil to Israel with the International Court of Justice ruling and its obligations under the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights?

Bazan did not respond.
