Broad Consensus on the inclusion of all Human Rights in a new instrument | RIDH's blog

…[On] 7th of July…Experts, member states as well as non-governmental organisations expressed the need to include all human rights in the framework of a new instrument. H. Kotrane…raised the question on whether only systemic or all violations should be covered by the treaty. He suggested generally including all rights since the inclusion of only those which apply to systematic violations would leave space for interpretation and therewith opening doors for misuse and arbitrariness. Ms. B. Meyersfeld echoed the proposal to include all human rights, which, so she added, would not imply that all enterprises would need to enforce all equally…S. Deva…emphasised the need to adopt a legally binding instrument…in order to be able to fill governmental gaps. He also urged to think about how the treaty could empower the victims in the short and the long run…
