China: Battery and bus manufacturers accused of connection to forced labor practices
In this short report, Globalworks Lund AB compared findings from two reports, “Human rights risks behind electric buses in Swedish public transportation” and “Human and labour rights violations at EVE Energy in China”, on three battery manufacturers in China: BYD, CATL, and EVE. This comparison highlights shared human rights risks and identifies industry-wide risk patterns.
This report explores forced labour risks at seven battery manufacturing companies; BYD, CATL, Durapower, LG Chem, Panasonic, Samsung, and SK Innovation, as well as Chinese electric bus manufacturer Yutong. The purpose of this investigation is to identify and compare forced labour risks associated with the above-named manufacturers.
