Cambodia: Govt. propose amendments to Law on Labour; unions voice concerns over lack of workers' protection

The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training meet with employer and union representatives to discuss draft amendments to the Labour Law. Minister of Labour Ith Sam Heng said his ministry established a working group to study the possibility of amending the Labour Law to conform to the economic and social context.

Union representatives said the amendment would hurt workers. Several unions and federations boycotted a meeting with garment industry and government representatives to discuss amendments to the Labor Law that the unions say will harm the interests of garment and footwear industry workers.
