Carlos Leonel George is a human rights defender, member of the Coordination of Popular Organisations of Aguán (Coordinadora de Organizaciones Populares del Aguán (COPA) in the South of Honduras. He has been active in denouncing the various human rights violations perpetrated by Inversiones Los Pinares against defenders in the region. On 27th January 2020 he went to local authorities to denounce attacks against the offices of COPA and he was arrested. This arrest occurs in the context of a increase in attacks against human rights defenders across the country and region for their active resistance against business activities in their territories.
