Chevron's response

19 April 2024

On 1 April 2024, Unocal Myanmar Offshore Co. Ltd. (UMOCL), and Chevron Global Ventures Limited (CGVL), wholly owned subsidiaries of Chevron Corporation, formally withdrew from its non-operated interests in the Yadana Project, and the Moattama Gas Transportation Company (MGTC) an associated pipeline company.

The withdrawal gives effect to our intention to exit Myanmar in a controlled and orderly manner, following the February 2021 coup, and ongoing humanitarian crisis.

We have held a non-operated interest in Yadana, which produces natural gas for domestic use in Myanmar and export to Thailand, since the early 1990s.

During this time, we have helped to improve the quality of life for the people in Myanmar through health, economic development and renewable energy programs.

We have conducted our exit from Myanmar in a responsible, orderly and safe manner, in accordance with international law and trade sanctions.
