Chiquita sued over Colombian bribes

Chiquita Brands International Inc., has been sued by a Florida man and seven others for the company’s support of a Colombian terrorist organization. The Cincinnati-based company has been sued several times by victims of Colombian paramilitary groups and their families, claiming billions of dollars in damages…Chiquita has claimed that it was an extortion victim in Colombia, paying left- and right-wing groups to protect its employees, not to promote violence…The lawsuit alleges that Chiquita is liable for their damages because the company provided money and weapons to support the FARC’s activities, including kidnapping and murder.
