ActionAid and ReCommon: ‘Unicredit is not funding Eni’s Coral North FLNG Project in Mozambique’
According to ActionAid Italia and ReCommon, there is no involvement of UniCredit in the Coral North FLNG. Intesa Sanpaolo on the other hand has a less restrictive policy on deepwater extraction than UniCredit and has so far given no response to questions from civil society about its intentions to finance the Coral North FLNG project.

The failure to include ultra-deep-water techniques would allow the bank to finance Eni’s new projects in Mozambique Coral North FLNG and Rovuma LNG, says ReCommon. In the updated policy, however, there is an exclusion for companies and projects located in areas of active armed conflict. The organisations hope that Intesa Sanpaolo will therefore consider the bloody conflict that has been tearing apart the north of Mozambique since 2017 and has also been fueled by the presence of the fossil fuel industry.
