FTSE cites "human rights" concerns at DuPont, UPS

...DuPont Co...and United Parcel Service...(UPS)...were among eight companies removed from a social investment index series [FTSE4Good] because of concerns about human rights, climate change and similar matters,...FTSE Group said...The most prominent change...was...to drop BP Plc...[after consideration of] the social and environmental impact of the company's huge oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico this year...FTSE's policy committee [also] removed from the index...two British construction companies, Morgan Sindall...and Taylor Wimpey..., in both cases citing "climate change." A Morgan Sindall spokesman said: "Due to the decentralized nature of Morgan Sindall, the company missed the deadline for collating the mass of information required."...The committee also dropped...Bridgestone Corp..., beverage maker Kirin...and...Kubota Corp...In all three cases, FTSE cited "human rights" issues in a summary of the actions, without being more specific... FTSE said it added 13 companies to the indexes, meaning they now meet the screening criteria. These include Chubb Corp...AOL...Swatch Group...Tenaris...
