...I am deeply honored to receive this award, not only for myself but for all Indigenous peoples and defenders around the world who stand on the frontlines of justice and environmental protection. This recognition is a powerful affirmation of our struggles, resilience, and the essential role we play in safeguarding the Earth for future generations.
For centuries, Indigenous peoples have cared for our lands, waters, and resources, drawing on wisdom, knowledge, and values passed down through generations. Yet today, our territories and lives are under constant threat—from land grabbing to violence, from environmental destruction to criminalization. We are targeted simply for defending our rights and the health of our planet.
This award amplifies our voices and sheds light on our challenges, but it also serves as a call to action. We need your solidarity, your commitment and actions to ensure that the rights of Indigenous peoples are upheld, that our lands are protected, and that we are free from persecution for defending them for the benefit of humanity as a whole.
In the words of our ancestors: we do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children. This truth drives us. It unites us. And together, we will continue to build a future that honours the rights, dignity, and contributions of Indigenous Peoples everywhere...
