Human Rights Now reports on alleged labour violations in Thai poultry supply chain

...This report goes into detail about the labour rights violations faced by the 14 Thammakaset Farm migrant workers, as well as the various legal proceedings they are involved in...The workers reported labour rights violations and indications of forced labour at Thammakaset farm including having their identity documents confiscated, preventing them from leaving the farm; facing a language barrier and absence of clear contract, allowing for their exploitation; being paid below the minimum wage and receiving no statutory overtime compensation; being illegally subject to fines and deductions from their wages; and working illegally long hours and consecutive days without days off...

...The report urges all stakeholders, including Thai farms, Thai poultry exporters, Japanese poultry importers, the Thai and Japanese governments, and Japanese companies and their Thai counterparts to take immediate and effective action to end, remedy, and avoid future labour and human rights violations of migrant and other workers in Thailand’s poultry sector...
