The Nigerian police in Lagos arrested five members of the Professional E-hailing Drivers and Private Owners Association (PEDPA), including PEDPA's president Idris Shonuga, who had embarked on a peaceful industrial action over the services rendered by the e-hailing ride companies Uber and Bolt. According to reports, four members were arrested initially and the president Shonuga went to the police station to negotiate their release, but he was also arrested. Union representative claim the arrest is an undue restriction of the right to protest.
