IGWG on TCNs and other business enterprises: Day 4

Today, the 09.07.15, the intergovernmental working group on human rights and transnational corporations and other business enterprises, tasked with developing an international legally binding instrument, will start its fourth day of debate...Two different panels are announced in today’s agenda. The one in the morning will be dealing with the legal liability of TNCs and other business enterprises: What standards for corporate legal liability and for what conduct? The one in the afternoon will elaborate on building national and international mechanisms for access to remedy, including international judicial cooperation, with respect to human rights violations by TNCs and other business enterprises- The OHCHR accountability and remedy project. Yesterday’s entire session was able to keep up productive and efficient discussions. Unfortunately, the European Union and other countries such as United States, Japan, and Norway, among others, were neither present in the morning session nor in the afternoon meeting...
