Professor John Ruggie, who passed away on 16 September 2021, dedicated his life to human rights and a more just world. In various capacities, most notably as an educator, strategist and as the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative on the issue of business and human rights, he touched so many lives in so many different ways. At SOMO, we were privileged to have frequent and enriching exchanges with him over many years. His intellectual rigour, clarity of thought and his willingness to dialogue and work with everyone have laid the building blocks for meaningful and far-reaching improvements to our society. He will be missed but certainly not forgotten.
