This is not true, and probably a reflection of a misunderstanding of the Madagascar labour laws because Sento is an assistant trade union representative as per Articles 6 and 7 of the Malagasy Labour Code. As assistant union representative he enjoys the same rights and responsibilities as those of a trade union representative. Therefore, it is not a privilege that he was invited to the meeting with the management...

Further, the reply seems to imply that the unjust imprisonment... is meant to promote social dialogue. This is a contradiction of what social dialogue is all about and what it is meant to achieve...
