JDE Peet's response to CSO calls for coffee sector to "cease attacks" on EUDR
…At JDE Peet’s our ambition is to positively impact people, our planet, and the future of coffee through our Common Grounds sustainability programme. As highlighted in the Coffee Watch report itself JDE Peet’s has always been committed to sustainable sourcing practices and ensuring that our supply chains are free from deforestation.
JDE Peet’s supports the objectives of the EUDR and we continue to work diligently to comply with the EUDR. We are taking steps not only to be compliant, but also to address the underlying problems that the legislation tries to address: global deforestation, biodiversity loss and climate impact, which threaten the future of the coffee industry. We currently work with smallholder farmers in more than 60 active projects in 23 countries to continuously improve sustainable and regenerative farming practices, farmer livelihoods and labour practices. Our participation in industry associations like the European Coffee Federation and the German Coffee Federation, as well as engagement within the context of EUDR is aimed at fostering dialogue and collaboration to achieve clarity, legislative certainty, and sustainable outcomes for the coffee sector.
