Jeremías Martínez Cruz is a defender of territory, water and life of his community Guapinol in Honduras. A judge with national jurisdiction issued a judicial arrest of Jeremiah, who has weak health and was arrested in his home without being shown an arrest warrant and with the police presence inside his house. Jeremiah is being accused of the crimes of usurpation and damages to the mining company Inversiones Los Pinares, among other charges. The judge allegedly issued 18 other arrest warrants against the defenders and environmentalists who have been defending water and life in the community of Guapinol.
