"20,000 trees to be cut down near Almaty due to construction of BAKAD", 15 May 2019
...According to preliminary estimates, the construction of the BAKAD will cost 187 billion tenge. For the arrangement of the Big Almaty Ring Road, 724 plots worth 8 billion have already been vacated. According to Almaty.tv, the demolition of houses has already begun. Only two land plots remain, with the owners of which the authorities still continue the legal battle...
...Also, due to the construction of the BAKAD, workers will have to cut down 20,000 trees. In return, the contractors are obliged to plant 60,000 along the ring road. There are also about three hundred ancient burial mounds on the site of the future route, which are planned to be excavated and studied by archaeologists in the near future...
