A worker died at the ArcelorMittal Temirtau plant. Incident was called an 'accident', 1 February 2022

A worker died at the ArcelorMittal Temirtau metallurgical plant in the Karaganda region... The company that owns the plant and the authorities called the incident an “accident.”

“We regret to announce an accident at the sinter plant, as a result of which we lost a colleague,” the company said on its official website.

The labor inspectorate of the Karaganda region told RFE/RL that, following the orders from the region's state inspector, the commission began an investigation.

“The circumstances and causes of the accident will be determined at the end of a special investigation, which will be reported additionally,” the labor inspectorate told RFE/RL.

Officials and the employer did not specify what happened to the sinter plant worker. The labor inspectorate did not answer this question, saying that the incident would be sorted out during the investigation. According to some reports, the man could have been pulled into the production line...
