Kirin's response

5 February 2021

We thank you again for your interest in Kirin Holdings and for reaching out to us for our comment on this matter.

I wanted to let you know that in light of the recent actions of the military in Myanmar, Kirin has announced today its decision to terminate its joint-venture partnership with MEHPCL. We will be taking steps as a matter of urgency to put this termination into effect and will do so in a responsible and transparent manner. We hope to find a way forward that will allow us to continue creating a positive impact on Myanmar’s economy and society through our operations at Myanmar Brewery Limited and Mandalay Brewery Limited.

The statement can be found at the following links:

We remain committed to taking necessary action and ensuring our global business activities adhere to the highest standards of corporate and social responsibility.

A further update on Kirin’s position will be provided in due course.
