Sources

On Sunday 19 November it was reported that the house owned by the defender Luis Sánchez Zhiminaicela, in Tundayme, had been partially burnt down along with his personal belongings, household goods and tools for agricultural work, one of the defender's sources of livelihood. Fortunately he was not at the scene. The defender monitors the activities of EcuaCorriente's Mirador open-pit mine, and the attack comes after he warned of the serious risks of the Mirador tailings project and the announcement of the allegedly unconsulted expansion that would make it the highest toxic waste site in the world.
