McKinsey Statement on Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine

Since the Russian government invaded Ukraine, we have focused first and foremost on ensuring the safety of all of our Ukrainian colleagues and their families. Our thoughts and hopes are with the people of Ukraine, and we stand with them during this tragedy.

Effective March 3rd 2022, we will not undertake any new client work in Russia. We will cease existing work with state-owned entities and have stopped work for government entities. After our remaining engagements in Russia conclude, all client service in the country will be suspended.

We oppose human rights violations anywhere in the world. We are rigorous about the work we choose to do, and, before we accept a project, we follow a client selection process that takes into account all relevant issues, including the impact of our work on society. All our colleagues are expected to comply with our code of professional conduct, which defines a set of expectations for the behaviour of all firm members.

McKinsey & Company supports: the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact on human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption; the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; and the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work. We strive to adhere to the principles set out in these standards, where they apply to McKinsey and the services we provide. We comply with all applicable sanctions and export controls.

We will continue to update McKinsey.com and our social media channels with further details on McKinsey’s response and humanitarian efforts. For reference, please view Bob Sternfels, Global Managing Partner, LinkedIn post here.
