"DELTA MATE Myanmar factory says there is no order and wages are cut" 23 December 2023
DELTA MATE Myanmar Co., Ltd factory, which manufactures GUESS women's nightgowns, is cutting 20% of workers' wages because of low orders, the workers said.
"...The working time is only half a day," said one of the workers.
He said that he was released from work after having to work from 7:30 in the morning until 11:30....But the workers who [live] far away from the factory have to return [on thei own], he said.
"[They] don't give [transport] to those who are far away when we get back at noon. I paid 3000 to return [on my own]....A worker explained.
He said that the orders are low every year and only 80% of wages are paid from December to the end of April, so he has been working without full wages for about 5 months...
The workers also said that because the factory gave workers' leaders...the usual benefits without reducing them, they were being discriminated against...
"Workers are not paid overtime,.." the workers said.
The next day, the workers said they were constantly discriminated against by their...supervisors, even though the workers had to redo the work left unfinished by the leaders...
DELTA MATE Myanmar Co., Ltd factory is located in Yangon, Kheku Township, It is said that there are around 1,000 workers in the village of Kyrkan. The workers also said that there is no trade union or WCC organized in the factory.
