Myanmar: Justice for Myanmar report cites companies' involvement in military's use of ATR aircraft for transport of troops, arms & reconnaissance

Justice for Myanmar (JFM) released a report citing private military arms brokers, commercial airlines and other companies' alleged involvement in the transfer, supply of parts, and maintenance of ATR aircraft for use by the Myanmar military. The report alleges that "[t]he ATR aircraft currently in the possession of the Myanmar air force are being used in a context in which the military is committing repeated grave violations of international human rights and humanitarian law with total impunity".

The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited the companies cited in the report to respond. Four companies responded: Airbus, Virgin Australia, ST Engineering and AXIS Flight Training Systems. Their responses are linked below.

On the other hand, the following companies did not respond: 24 Hour Group, Aeroflot, Airwork, ATR/ATR Eastern Support, Dowell Airline Support/Dowell Aviation, Elbit Systems, Htoo Group, KLM Royal Dutch Airline, Leonardo, Mingalar Aviation, Myanmar National Airlines, Myanmar Airways International, Pratt & Whitney, Sabena Technics, Vector Aerospace and Vietnam Airlines.

Invitations to respond were not sent to the following companies due to lack of contacts: MWG Limited, KT Group, EAM Global Logistics, Meridian Aviation Services, International Gateways Group and Myanmar Consultancy.
