No response from National Mineral Development Corporation
The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) to respond to allegations in Bailadila Mines of:
- Forest clearance and livelihood impacts
- Health and safety issues among Bailadila mines workers due to exposure to elevated levels of air pollutants
- Riverine water pollution, particularly of Shankhini River
- The widening of a road intended to transport ore from the Bailadila mines, which is reportedly wider than legally permitted and allegedly causes impacts, including illegal deforestation
