Norges Bank excludes India's ONGC and three Israeli companies over grave human rights violations

In September 2021, the world's largest sovereign fund Norges Bank Investement Management excluded four companies from its portfolio due to their links to Israeli settlements in the West Bank. These companies include India's top oil producer Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC.NS) and three companies operating in Israel, Elco (ELCO.TA), its subsidiary Electra (ELTR.TA) and Ashtrom (ASHG.TA).

According to Norges Bank statement, the Executive Board has decided to exclude Elco Ltd, Ashtrom Group Ltd and Electra Ltd "due to unacceptable risk that the companies contribute to systematic violations of individuals’ rights in situations of war or conflict" in the West Bank, while ONGC has been blacklisted based on "the company’s ties to groups that seriously violate human rights in South Sudan".
