Snapshot: On 7 November 2022, the widow of a deceased employee of Nyrstar Mining filed a lawsuit against the company in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee Knoxville Division, alleging that company representatives had the intent to harm or kill her husband. The employee died in an accident in July 2021 when a rock fell from the roof of the Strawberry Plains zinc mine. The lawsuit claims that the mine was known to be unsafe and that the company failed to provide a safe working environment. The case is ongoing.
