Procès Bhopal: réouverture du dossier [Inde]

...Le 3 novembre 2008, les juges de la Cour d’appel de Manhattan...ont annulé le non-lieu, concédé en 2006, à Union Carbide [fait partie de Dow Chemical], propriétaire de l’usine chimique dont la fuite a provoqué, en 1984, la plus grande catastrophe industrielle connue à ce jour...Aujourd’hui encore, les Bhopali sont victimes de cancers, maladies neurologiques, malformations et autres affections en lien avec l’intoxication de la région...Pour [Dow Chemical], l’affaire est close depuis le versement d’une compensation de 470 millions de dollars en 1989, décidée à l’amiable. Les représentants d’Union Carbide chez Dow Chemical ont d’ailleurs déclaré que « la décision du 3 novembre concerne la forme, et non le fond du dossier ».
