Real Madrid's response on racist attacks in LaLiga
Real Madrid has sent us its two official statements.
[...]
...Real Madrid C. F. would like to thank the many expressions of affection, solidarity and affection received from all over the world for our player Vinicius Júnior. Attacks of hatred and racism must be eradicated from our society forever and this is what has been expressed by personalities from all areas and from different national and international institutions after what happened on Sunday at the Mestalla stadium...
The unfortunate events that took place have gone around the world and are a disgrace to our football, as reflected and denounced in the major international media. The Washington Post and L'Équipe, to cite just a few emblematic examples, have highlighted the serious problem of Spanish football in a very forceful manner.
And finally, we are surprised by the statements made by the president of the Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales, because, being the person in charge of Spanish football and the refereeing profession, he has allowed no forceful action to be taken, in accordance with FIFA protocols, to avoid the situation that has arisen. The image of our football is seriously damaged and deteriorated in the eyes of the whole world.
Their passivity has contributed to the helplessness and defencelessness of our player Vinicius. The referees, far from acting firmly and applying the regulatory protocols, have chosen in most cases to inhibit themselves and avoid taking the decisions that were theirs to take. Yesterday, the referee and those in charge of the VAR shirked their responsibilities and made unfair decisions based on incomplete images, which were not seen in their entirety, which were biased and which led to the direct sending off of our player Vinicius Júnior. Unfortunately, what happened yesterday and the way it was handled by the referees and the VAR is not seen as something isolated, but as something that has been repeated in many of our matches. The victim who suffers the crime can never be held responsible for it.
For all these reasons, we are extremely concerned that the Spanish Football Federation has not taken any action during all this time, despite the obvious and repeated warning signs that we have been denouncing from our club...
