Response by Jotron

In general, Jotron follow the guidelines from Norwegian  department of Foreign Affairs when it come to deliveries to restricted areas. These guidelines are strict, and we follow them consequently. When we in August were made aware of products from Jotron delivered to Myanmar, we first assumed this was our maritime products. These products are sold to ships all over the world, and we have no chance to know the final destination of each single product.

But after some more investigation and also information from IIFFMM, we realized that this was ATC (Air Traffic Control) communication equipment delivered to Myanmar from our office in Singapore.

The majority of all Jotron ATC deliveries goes out of our main office in Norway, where we have full control on the final destination of all deliveries. But we realized that we did not have the full overview of deliveries made from our Subsidiaries. In this specific case, our Singapore office followed the guidelines from Singapore Government, and they did not at that time have any restrictions on deliveries to Myanmar.

As a consequence of this new knowledge, we instructed all subsidiaries in the group to follow the guidelines from Norwegian  department of Foreign Affairs in all local deliveries. We have improved our internal routines, and I feel sure that we now have good control, and that no more deliveries will be made to such restricted areas from Jotron.
