Response from Cargill regarding sourcing from palm oil companies allegedly involved with human rights abuses

Cargill is committed to treating people with dignity and respect in the workplace and in the communities where we do business. We promote and respect human rights as outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

... Our Palm Policy and Human Rights Commitment both address communities and our supply chain and workplaces. Through our sustainable Palm policy, Cargill is committed to a transparent, traceable, and sustainable palm oil supply chain.

We conduct monitoring through secondary sources and engagement with local stakeholders to hold suppliers accountable to our policies. In addition to our monitoring, Cargill’s Palm Grievance Procedure provides a transparent, open, and robust process for dealing with grievances.

... Regarding the challenge raised in the Peruvian palm oil supply, Cargill does not have sourcing relationships with any of the suppliers mentioned.

Regarding concerns specific to the Columbian palm oil supply chain, we can confirm that part of our supply comes from the area of Montes de María. In accordance our with grievance process, we will take the necessary next steps to further evaluate risk factors and address or remediate non-compliant issues. If a supplier is not compliant with our Human Rights Commitment or Palm Policy, we engage or suspend...
