“Subject to the Jeju Air Disaster Serious Accident Punishment Act..."Possible punishment for the CEO,” 6 January 2025
An accident investigation is being conducted to find out who is responsible for the Jeju Air disaster that killed numerous people.
If a defect in the aircraft is included in the cause of the accident due to management, Jeju Air may be booked up to its representative for violating the Serious Accident Penalty Act.
This accident is true of both disasters in that 175 passengers and six crew members were killed or injured.
Experts have no doubt that the accident is subject to the Serious Accident Punishment Act.
In addition, if the cause of the accident was due to airport facilities such as local riser structures, the Busan Regional Aviation Administration could also be subject to punishment under the Critical Accident Punishment Act if the Korea Airports Corporation was directly involved in control tasks.
