In September 2024, The Online Citizen reported on the death of a Bangladeshi worker on a worksite in Resorts World Sentosa last month. The Ministry of Manpower has said the incident occurred when part of a steel structure collapsed while it was being lifted, striking the worker, while also stressing the “importance of ensuring that lifting equipment and supporting structures are properly designed, installed, and inspected as a general safety measure”.

As "the contractor responsible for the site", Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Sunray Woodcraft Construction to respond to the report and outline how the company ensures safety standards for workers are upheld as well as what measures the company has taken to ensure remedy for the family of the deceased worker. The Ministry of Manpower instructed the company to halt all lifting activities immediately.

Sunray Woodcraft Construction did not provide a response.
