Singapore: One worker dead & second injured on construction worksite; incl. response from contractor Penta-Ocean

A Bangladeshi national employed by Maranatha Contractors died following an injury by falling steel reinforcement bars on a construction worksite in Woodlands North, Singapore, in June 2024. A second worker was injured. The Ministy of Manpower instructed Penta-Ocean to stop all steel reinforcement work at the worksite.

The Resource Centre contacted Penta-Ocean Construction, the main contractor to invite them to respond to the incident and to outline how they ensure safety standards for workers are upheld, as well as what measures the companies had taken to ensure remedy for the injured worker and for the family of the deceased worker. We could not find working contact information for Maranatha Contractors or for the subcontractor Interno Engineering to invite them to respond to the incident.
