Twitter did not respond to allegations of allowing online harassment & abuse against climate scientists on its platform
On 14 April 2023, the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Twitter to respond to the allegations and recommendations contained in the Global Witness’ report “Global Hating: How online abuse of climate scientist harms climate action”. According to the report, Twitter facilitates online harassment and abuse against climate scientists, negatively impacting their mental and physical health and inhibiting climate discourse. The report highlights that Twitter and Facebook are the most commonly used platforms for such abuse and recommends platforms to make reforms to tackle abusive content to protect scientists and enable informed public and responsive climate action. Twitter did not respond.
