EU member states agree on tougher climate goals for 2030
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has said the EU will cut carbon emissions to 55% of 1990 levels within a decade. The European Parliament, which itself is pushing for a slightly higher target, still has to approve the Commission's new emissions goal.
